Lihle Khoza

Chief Executive Officer – Motor Industry Fund Administrators

Lihle Khoza is the CEO of MIFA, a company that administers the Motor Industry Retirement Fund (MIRF). MIRF has over 250,000 members and R40 billion in assets. Khoza has over 25 years of experience in the retirement fund industry and has held executive positions at several prominent companies. She is known for her strategic thinking, leadership skills, and expertise in operations. Khoza is passionate about using technology to improve engagement and transparency in the retirement fund industry, particularly through pension dashboards. She is committed to delivering exceptional client experiences and driving innovation.

Vincent Le Guennou

CEO – Africa50 Infrastructure Acceleration Fund

Vincent Le Guennou joined the Africa50 Infrastructure Acceleration Fund from Emerging Capital Partners (ECP), where he spent 20 years.

Vincent served on ECP’s Executive Committee and investment committees. He has served on the boards of various African companies, including Eranove (Power & Water), Togocom (Telecommunications), CIE (Power), SODECI (Water), All Africa Airways (Transportation), Air Ivoire (Transportation), Veolia Water Maroc (Water), Oragroup (Bank / digital infrastructure), and Takafa Education (Education / Social infrastructure).

Prior to joining ECP in 2000, and over a six-year period, Vincent worked for the International Department of the Saur Group, a former affiliate of the Bouygues Group, which specializes in water and electricity distribution and wastewater treatment. While on secondment from Saur, Vincent served as Chief Financial Officer of Compagnie Ivoirienne d’Electricité (CIE) in Côte d’Ivoire, one of the country’s largest companies listed on the regional stock exchange. He began his career in 1989 in Arthur Andersen’s Paris office.

Vincent is French and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Université de Paris Dauphine. He is a graduate of l’Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales in Paris.

Tshepidi Moremong

COO – Africa50

Tshepidi Moremong was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Africa50 in July, 2021. She leads a multi-disciplinary team including Fundraising, Investor Relations, Strategy, Human Resources and Administration, Communications, and Environmental and Social Governance. She is a seasoned executive with more than twenty years of experience in private equity, corporate finance, and business development.

Before joining Africa50, Tshepidi spent nine years at Rand Merchant South Africa, where she was the Head of Client Coverage for Africa (ex. South Africa), with responsibility for business development and client relationship management across nine markets. During her tenure, Ms. Moremong successfully built and led a multi-regional team which delivered significant results for RMB’s rest of Africa franchise across corporate and investment banking. Her career includes time spent with institutions in private equity and investment banking.

Ms. Moremong has previously served as Chairperson of the African Venture Capital Association, and has held directorships for both listed and unlisted companies in Africa. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Public Policy from Swarthmore College and an MBA in Finance from Columbia University Business School.

Geraldine Fowler

President – Institute of Retirement Funds Africa

Dr. Zamokuhle Welcome Shabane

Trustee – Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF)

Dr Shabane has over 20 years of experience within the South African Department of Defence as a human resources management practitioner. He is currently appointed as Deputy Director Human Resources Separation.

Dr Shabane is also an external academic supervisor and an examiner for Nelson Mandela University’s Business School for the MBA programme since February 2022. He is also a part-time lecturer at Tshwane University of Technology, Faculty of Management Sciences, Department of People Management and Development since January 2019. He lectures human resources management modules.

Dr Shabane is an Employer-nominated Trustee at the GEPF serving on the following Board Committees, The Benefits and Administration Committee (BA-C) and Governance and Legal Committee (GL-C), he also serves as a member in the Board of Trustees’ strategic planning sessions that are held to drive the Fund’s objectives.

He holds a Doctoral Degree in Human Resources Management from the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). He has also completed training in the Governance of Ethics with the Ethics Institute (TEI). He is also a member of the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA).

Mpho Mtsi

Institutional Client Director – Old Mutual Investment Group

Mpho is an Institutional Client Director within the Old Mutual Investment Group’s Institutional Client Management team. She is responsible for growing assets under management from institutional investors across various listed investment strategies.

With over 11 years of experience in financial services, Mpho has a strong background in actuarial valuations and financial risk management consulting for insurers, asset managers, banks, and corporates.

Timothy Mukoba

Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer – Systech Limited

Tim is a passionate believer that Africa has the capacity to solve her own challenges through technology-driven solutions. It’s upon this premise that he developed FundMaster from scratch, an innovative world-class ERP for the African Pensions Industry. For over 25 years, Tim has been at the forefront of driving innovation and providing tailored solutions for the African pensions market, by combining local insights with world-class technology. His extensive experience, underscores his proficiency in navigating the complexities of the pension sector and collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders, including governments, social security organizations, central banks, insurance companies and diversified financial institutions, and other key players.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Financial Management (FAAFM), a Chartered Pensions Analyst Manager (CPAM), Certified Business Analyst, Certified Project Manager (PRINCE2 Practitioner), Certified Database Administrator and a seasoned Enterprise Software Developer.

Tim is the Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Systech Limited (www.systechafrica.com), a Pan-African enterprise software development house that specializes in Retirement Benefits technology solutions. Tim and his team at Systech Limited are making significant strides in revolutionizing retirement benefits technology across the continent.

Aboagye Manu

Board Chairman – GCB Bank Pension Schemes

Aboagye Manu brings over twenty-two years of banking experience, with a strong analytical aptitude, organizational expertise, and a wide range of relevant experience spanning Banking and Economic Research, Investment Banking, Risk Management, Corporate Strategy, Budget & Budgetary Controls, and Private Pension Funds Management, among others. A results-driven manager with a proven track record, he was one of the pioneer members tasked with establishing GCB Custody Services in 2018, where he has served as Manager of Custody Operations, overseeing operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Before assuming this role, Aboagye held several key positions within GCB Bank, including Manager, Budget & Budgetary Controls, Business Finance Manager in the Finance Department, and roles such as Business Intelligence Manager, Banking & Economic Specialist, and Corporate Plan Monitoring Supervisor in the Research Department. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for GCB Bank’s Tier 2 & 3 Occupational Pension Schemes, where he is responsible for ensuring sound governance, fund security, and growth.
Aboagye is a Chartered Banker and holds an MPhil. in Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon.

Daniela Silcock

Head of Policy Research – Pensions Policy Institute

Daniela leads the Policy Research team at the Pensions Policy Institute (PPI). She has extensive experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research into all aspects of state and private pensions policy.

Daniela is a frequent contributor to academic journals and the national press. She is a skilled presenter and has spoken at numerous domestic and international events, including radio and television appearances.

Before returning to the PPI in 2012, Daniela worked as a Committee Specialist for the Work and Pensions Select Committee. Prior to her career in research and policy, she was a social worker specializing in working with vulnerable adults and children.

Daniela holds an MSc in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics.

Leslie Ndawana

Principal Executive Officer – National Fund for Municipal Workers

Leslie is a dedicated professional committed to improving retirement outcomes and positively impacting lives. With a wealth of experience in the retirement funds industry, he has held various key roles, including Senior/Principal Consultant, Principal Officer, Trustee, and head of consulting and technical management at an employee benefits consulting firm.

His deep understanding of technical aspects of employee benefits, including retirement funds, investments, group risk benefits, and medical aids, coupled with extensive knowledge of their taxation, is a result of over a decade of experience in the financial services industry and relevant academic/professional qualifications.

Leslie is actively involved in giving back to the industry and society. He currently serves as a Board member of the Batseta Council for retirement funds and was a member of the Retirement Funds Scorecard Review Sub-Committee (2019-21) for the Financial Sector Transformation Council. He is also the Chairperson of his homeowners association.

Throughout his career, Leslie has successfully navigated the evolving landscape of local government retirement funds, led organizational change and restructuring, and spearheaded the transition to impact investing.

He remains dedicated to personal and professional development, focusing on responsible leadership, building strong relationships, and continuous learning.

Yvonne Braun

Association of British Insurers – Director of Policy, Long-Term Savings, Health & Protection

Yvonne Braun OBE leads the ABI’s work on pensions, health, and protection insurance. She also oversees the finance department, data analysis team, and the ABI’s diversity and inclusion program. Additionally, she heads the sector’s £100m Covid-19 Support Fund.

Prior to joining the ABI, Yvonne worked at the Financial Services Authority in policy and public affairs. She also has experience as a capital markets lawyer at Goldman Sachs and Cleary Gottlieb.

Yvonne is a member of the Government’s Pensions Dashboards Advisory Group and the City of London Corporation’s Taskforce to improve socioeconomic diversity in financial and professional services. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a former trustee of Asthma UK.

Yvonne holds a doctorate in international criminal law from Cambridge University. She was awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours list in 2024 for services to the pensions industry and socioeconomic diversity.

Banji Fehintola

Executive Board Member & Head, Financial Services – Africa Finance Corporation

With over two decades of extensive experience in global markets, financial services and infrastructure finance across Africa, Banji brings a wealth of expertise to his new role at AFC. He joined the Corporation in 2008 and rose through the ranks to become AFC’s pioneer Treasurer. His leadership of the funding team was instrumental in securing the Corporation’s investment-grade credit rating and raising over US$ 12 billion in funding for AFC through diverse funding sources. Banji’s strategic vision, innovation and financial acumen propelled AFC’s Treasury team to global recognitions, winning awards such as “Best Supranational Treasury & Funding Team of the Year” as well as recognition for several landmark transactions.

 

In his new position as Executive Director, Financial Services, Banji will oversee several functions including Treasury & Financial Institutions, Financial Advisory, Syndications, and the newly created Capital Mobilization & Partnerships. His appointment will play a pivotal role in strengthening AFC’s unwavering commitment to unlock pragmatic solutions for infrastructure projects that enhance local value capture and spur industrialisation.

Guy Opperman

UK Pensions Minister 2017-22; Consultant and Advisor

Guy Opperman is the United Kingdom’s longest serving Pensions Minister from 2017-2022. 

He was formerly a steeplechase jockey, a barrister, businessman and then the Member of Parliament for Hexham 2010-2024. Guy also held roles in the Home Office, Treasury, and Transport departments. He was responsible for the rollout of Defined Contribution Workplace Pensions to 8% earnings in the United Kingdom and the reform of Defined Benefit. Since leaving politics in 2024 Guy is on a mission to change retirement savings around the world. 

 

Guy served in the government of 4 Prime Ministers. 

Guy set up and chaired from scratch the Northumberland Community Bank, a fully regulated savings and loan bank in the North East in 2015. 

As a lawyer Guy was the UK 2007 Pro Bono lawyer of the Year winner, and named by the Times newspaper as one of their lawyers of the year. He rode his last winner as a jockey in 2019 at Sedgefield. 

After University Guy worked on a farm in Tanzania and also ran horse riding game safaris north and around Arusha.  Guy is presently a senior adviser to Smart Pensions, a platform and pension provider with clients in the UK, Hong Kong Kong, UAE, Ireland and elsewhere with billions of pounds under management.
